A goal I had for 2011 was to start a blog about homebrewing beer, so ladies and gentlemen here it is, "The Holtbrewery". Allow me to introduce myself.
For those of you who don't know me, my name is Nick and I started homebrewing in March 2009 when my dad bought me my first homebrew kit for my 23rd birthday, which thinking back on that birthday, it was the only actual present I got (totally worth it). There was a delay in brewing for awhile, but I picked it back up toward the end of 2009 along with one of my friends (and partner in crime), Scott, and we've been constantly brewing since. We made the transition from "extract" brewing to "all-grain" brewing over summer 2010, and I must say, our brews just keep progressively getting better with every brew.
Being a man of science (specifically chemistry), I'm fascinated by the experimentation side of brewing as well as absorbing as much knowledge about the process as possible... that, and I love beer. On a relative time scale, I'm fairly new to the homebrewing community and I don't claim to know everything about beer or brewing, and in fact, one reason I started this blog in the first place is to facilitate discussion for anything brewing related so that others can contribute knowledge as well.
For this blog I hope to share recipes, techniques, information about the science behind brewing, and possibly how to videos in the future. So if you have any suggestions for topics to cover or questions about brewing, I'd love to hear them in the comments. I welcome all who stumble across this site.
